Growing up in a single-parent household in rural Maine, I quickly learned the value of hard work. Raised in a family of volunteer firefighters and paramedics, the importance of community service was instilled in me at a young age. As an adult, I’ve always been dedicated to the future of Portland and made my first run for office in 2009, when I was elected to the Portland Charter Commission. I then served in the Maine House of Representatives from 2010-16, and was elected to the Senate in 2016, representing District 27, a portion of Portland. Amistad is doing incredibly important work that aligns closely with my personal values, and I am honored to serve on its Board.
